🎙️ The Speech Synthesis Workshop Kicks Off Today!
Today marks the beginning of something extraordinary in the world of speech technology -- and we are proud to be hosting it.
The 13th Speech Synthesis Workshop (SSW13) officially opens its doors in just a few minutes, bringing together over 100 international experts from nearly 20 countries. Representatives from big tech, small tech and start-ups are joining researchers from institutions across Norway to China, to create a unique cross-pollination of academic research and industry innovation.
Three keynotes:
🎯 Anna-Mari Wallenberg (University of Helsinki)
🍎 Alistair Conkie (Apple)
🇮🇳 Hema Murthy (IIT Madras Chennai)
Plus! This year's Blizzard Challenge (Wednesday, August 27) will create the very first digital voice for Bildts, a regional language from Northwest Friesland. A reminder — no, a call to action — that speech technology shouldn’t only be for major languages.
Proceedings are live at the ISCA Archive. A bird’s eye view of the program appears below.
The next three days will shape how we interact with technology through voice. And it's all happening in the beautiful, linguistically rich landscape of Friesland. We are excited and proud to be hosting this event here!
